How to Unsend an iPhone Text: A Guide
Texting is a convenient way to stay connected with friends and family. But sometimes, you quickly realize after sending a message that youve made a mistake or sent something you werent supposed to. Fortunately, its possible to unsend texts on an iPhone. Heres a guide to help you do so.
First, open your Messages app on your iPhone. Find the conversation that contains the message you want to unsend and open it. Tap and hold on the message you want to delete. A menu will appear, offering you three options Copy, Speak, and More…. Tap More….
This will open a list of options, including Flag and Delete. Tap Delete and choose Delete Message. Youll be asked to confirm that you want to delete the message. Tap Delete Message again to confirm.
The message will now be deleted from the conversation. However, its important to note that this will only delete the message from your iPhone. It wont delete the message from the recipients phone.
If you want to delete the message from the recipients phone as well, you can use the iMessage Recall feature. This feature allows you to delete a message up to 30 minutes after youve sent it. To use this feature, open the conversation and tap and hold on the message you want to delete. Tap More…., then tap Recall.
This will open a new window, asking you to confirm that you want to recall the message. Tap Recall, then Confirm. The message will be deleted from both your phone and the recipients phone.
Its important to note that the iMessage Recall feature is not available on all iPhone models. Its only available on iPhones running iOS 13 or later. If you dont have an iPhone running iOS 13 or later, you wont be able to use the iMessage Recall feature.
In addition, the iMessage Recall feature can only be used for messages sent up to 30 minutes ago. If youve sent a message more than 30 minutes ago, you wont be able to recall it.
If you want to delete an older message, you can try asking the recipient to delete it for you. Its also possible to contact your cell phone provider and ask them to delete the message from their servers. However, this may not be possible depending on your provider.
Unsending a text message on an iPhone is easy. Just open the conversation, tap and hold on the message you want to delete, then tap Delete Message. If youre using an iPhone running iOS 13 or later, you can also use the iMessage Recall feature to delete a message up to 30 minutes after youve sent it.
