How to Manage Bookmarks in Safari

Bookmarks are an essential part of any web browser, and Safari is no exception. Safari bookmarks make it easy to keep track of sites youve visited, organize them into folders and access them quickly. If youre new to Safari, or just want to brush up on the basics, heres a guide on how to manage bookmarks in Safari.

Adding a Bookmark

Adding a bookmark to your Safari browser is simple. All you need to do is find the website youd like to bookmark, then click the Bookmark icon (the small square with an arrow pointing upwards) at the top of the window. You can also press Command+D on your keyboard to quickly add a bookmark.

Once youve clicked the icon, you can choose where to save the bookmark, such as in your Favorites folder, in the Bookmarks Bar or a custom folder you create. You can also edit the name of the bookmark or add a description. When youre done, click the Add button to save the bookmark.

Organizing Bookmarks

Organizing your bookmarks in Safari is easy. To create a new folder, click the Bookmark icon and select New Folder from the drop-down menu. Give your folder a name and click the Create button. You can also drag-and-drop folders and bookmarks to rearrange them as you please.

If youd like to edit the details of a bookmark, right-click it and choose Edit Bookmark. Here, you can change the name, URL, description and the folder its stored in. When youre done, click the Save button to save your changes.

Viewing Bookmarks

To view your bookmarks, click the Bookmark icon and select Show All Bookmarks from the drop-down menu. From here, you can view all your bookmarks, including those stored in the Favorites folder, the Bookmarks Bar and other custom folders. You can also click the History tab to view a list of websites youve visited, sorted by date.

Deleting Bookmarks

If you no longer need a bookmark, you can delete it. To do so, open the Show All Bookmarks window, then right-click the bookmark you want to delete and select Delete. You can also delete an entire folder by right-clicking it and selecting Delete.

Using Bookmarks

Once youve organized your bookmarks, you can access them easily. If youve added a bookmark to the Bookmarks Bar, you can click it to open the website. Alternatively, you can click the Bookmark icon and select the bookmark from the list. You can also click the History tab to quickly access a website youve recently visited.
