: How to Make Different Page Numbers in Microsoft Word

Page numbers are a common feature of many documents, and Microsoft Word makes it easy to add them to your pages. However, sometimes you may need to make the page numbers different on different pages, for instance, if you are creating a page with a cover page, or if you want to start the page numbering in the middle of the document. In this article, we’ll explain how to make different page numbers in Microsoft Word.

First, open the document in Microsoft Word that you would like to add page numbers to. Then, click the Insert tab at the top of the screen. In the Header & Footer section, click the Page Number drop-down button. From the list, select the location of the page numbers you want to add. You can choose to insert them at the top or bottom of the page, or in the margins.

Once you have selected the location of the page numbers, click the Format Page Numbers button. In the Page Number Format window, select the type of numbering you would like to use. You can choose from a variety of numbering styles, including Roman numerals, letters, or numbers.

Now that you have selected the type of page numbering you want to use, you can customize it further. To start the page numbering from a certain page, select the Start at option and enter the desired page number. You can also select the Different First Page option if you want the first page of your document to have a different page number than the rest of the document.

If you want to make the page numbers a different color, you can do so by selecting the Page Number Color option in the Page Number Format window. This allows you to choose the color of the page numbers.

Once you have chosen the type of page numbering you want to use, and customized it further, click the OK button to apply the changes. Your page numbers will now be different than the rest of the document.

It is important to note that if you are using a different page number style, such as Roman numerals, you may need to use a separate Page Number button for each page number style. For example, if you want the first page of your document to be numbered with Roman numerals, you will need to go back to the Insert tab and click the Page Number drop-down button again. Then, select the Roman Numerals option and click the OK button.

By following the steps outlined above, you can easily make the page numbers different on different pages of your Microsoft Word document. This can be a useful feature if you are creating a document with a cover page, or if you want to start the page numbering in the middle of the document
